Austin based singer-songwriter Benji Lamar has been performing professionally as a solo artist and with his band City of Decades since 2014 and has various ensemble line ups which portray his alternative style.
As a primarily acoustic player, his sound has been described as indie-folk and pop-punk and sounding like "Of Monsters and Men with some edge to the vocals." Another description is "The Beatles meets Panic! at the Disco" which describes his influence from admiring great oldies, along with the alternative music of today.
Benji was classically trained on violin at a young age and picked up guitar in high school to start singing songs.
He has been writing his own originals for 10 years and performing them along with well-known hits and jazz standards.
His personal mission with his music is to shed light on the issues of mental health in our society. Awareness, support, and education on these issues of emotional hygiene can create a positive effect on the population.
